WORDS FROM THE CHAIRMAN
“As Chair of the St. Augustine Airport Authority Board, I’m honored to serve our tenants, pilots, and the broader St. Johns County community. My driving interest in serving is to act as a trusted steward over the next 3 years and make this airport a true beacon for the region — grounded in integrity, fiscal responsibility, strategic capital investments, and strong tenant partnerships.
While I’m proud of the recent ribbon-cutting on 19 new T-hangars, that project is already in the past. I remain forward focused on how we can position the airport as a strong economic engine delivering excellence in aviation, sustained growth, job creation, and meaningful regional impact. Looking ahead, we are deliberately planning for the future of aviation by leveraging Florida’s bold Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and eVTOL vision. I am also committed to continuing to support Northrop Grumman’s critical contributions while exploring opportunities to expand aerospace manufacturing on airport property.
With fresh branding and a clear vision, I’m optimistic that today’s groundwork will make St. Johns County and our aviation partners proud, while positioning our airport as home for excellence in aviation. I’m proud to serve alongside this Board as we deliver lasting value to every tenant and partner.”
– Nick Primrose
NATIONAL PAPER AIRPLANE DAY CHALLENGE
National Paper Airplane Day is celebrated each year to highlight the creativity, imagination, and simple science behind flight. While paper airplanes may seem basic, they demonstrate key aviation principles like lift, drag, balance, and design. For many future pilots and engineers, they’re often the first introduction to aerodynamics and the excitement of flight.
To celebrate, St. Augustine Airport is hosting a friendly challenge: the first three people to bring a paper airplane to the admin office will receive a St. Augustine Airport merch bag filled with goodies as a thank you for participating!
HONORING AVIATION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANS
Each year on May 24, we recognize Aviation Maintenance Technician Day. St. Augustine Airport is proud to honor the hard work, skill, and dedication of our aviation maintenance technicians.
This day celebrates the professionals who play a critical role in keeping aircraft safe, reliable, and ready to fly. A fun fact: it also highlights the legacy of Charles E. Taylor, the Wright brothers’ mechanic and widely regarded as the first aviation maintenance technician. Their attention to detail and expertise help ensure every flight operates smoothly and securely.
